I love the Madagascar movies, so obviously I really liked how they created a backstory of some sorts for the penguins and let their personalities show. I feel like they could have made the North Wind characters have some more personality though. I never really got to know Agent Classified really well. Or Eva. Or Corporal is it? I don't even know. The thing is, when they introduced North Wind, Agent Classified spoke so fast I couldn't really know their names till the end credits. Like, I had to refer to everyone as "the seal guy" or "the wolf guy" or whatevs.
That's probably like the only con of the first half of the movie.
The cover said that it was going to be a global adventure, but we only got to visit like three different places (France, China, Brazil I think) I mean, I guess that's okay because they didn't have enough time to put more places. But at least they should've let us be at those places longer??
I don't know. I didn't get all emotional and teary-eyed at the end or anything. There wasn't anything that made all of us burst into tears. I really expected some feels because, you know, it was Dreamworks that made this movie after all. Like, in The Croods. Or Rise of the Guardians. There were some really deep stuff there. Even Madagascar 3 gave me a lot of feels. Those movies were probably geared towards an older audience as well, like preteens and teens. But Penguins was probably made for littler kids, like, say, ages 3-9. (Oh wait. in the back of the DVD case it says it's a family movie. So I guess it makes sense for it to be friendly for littler kids as well. BUT STILL!! I feel like it needed some feels, too!!)
